The member-firm directory, the mixer, and the public calendar
Chambers of commerce, downtown associations, builder associations, and visitor bureaus keep a searchable list of member businesses or firms. Members pay dues, send each other work, and show up at mixers. The public still uses the calendar. That is not a professional association's year of certifications and continuing education.
A public directory of member businesses or firms
The listing is the company, not a person's credential. A chamber or downtown group lists shops and storefronts. A builder association lists member firms. A visitor bureau lists member hotels, attractions, and restaurants. Each card can carry the business name, description, website, employee counts, and year opened. Directory visibility can follow the dues package. A join form writes the firm onto the same member record the public directory uses. The website and the directory live in one login and one database.
- Public listings of businesses or firms, not a roster of certificate holders
- Search for residents, visitors, and buyers looking for a member company
- Directory visibility tied to the dues package
- Join forms capture the firm on the same record as the listing
Mixers, member events, and a calendar the public can use
These groups fill a room and publish a week. After-hours mixers, ribbon cuttings, downtown nights, builder member events, and visitor-bureau happenings sit on one events list. People who are not members still browse that calendar: residents, visitors, and local buyers. Use events for the listing and registration, and forms for RSVPs and event requests. Between mixers, the member forum is for referrals from one firm to another. Publish the calendar and take RSVPs. Do not treat mixers as continuing-education sessions.
- Mixers and member events on one events list
- Public calendar on the organization website
- RSVP and event-request forms
- Member forum for firm-to-firm referrals between events
Dues, member-to-member benefits, and email
Dues are the membership package. Benefits are between member businesses: directory placement, mixer access, shop-local or preferred-firm perks, and referrals. Email those members about mixers, dues notices, and the week's public events from the same people list. SMS is not enabled. Social Media posting is not available. The accounting workspace keeps the books. Questions go through /contact.
- Dues packages with plan member caps, not a per-member fee
- Member-to-member benefits on the same record
- Email to members (SMS is not enabled)
- Support through /contact
